HOW TO ENTER

Entry is free for young chefs and young waiters who are 26 years old or under on:

YCYW UK: China & South East Asia and South Asia: 17 November

YCYW Ireland: 22 November

Our online entry is a simple 2-step process.

Before you start, we recommend you read the instructions below. It may look like lots of info but we guarantee it will be hugely helpful with your entry.

First you register: name, email, create a password and accept our Terms & Conditions (which can be viewed here)

You’ll receive an email which contains an account confirmation link. You can use this to link to edit and update your profile – this is handy if you don’t wish to complete your entry in one go.

Next you ‘Start new entry’ to fill in your submission: you can continue completing this immediately after you’ve registered; you don’t need to wait for the email confirmation.

All of the fields except the social media and last question are required fields. They need to be filled in before the Judges can review your entry (but you don’t need to complete everything at once)

File upload: We need to see that you have the Right to Work in the UK or Ireland. Please upload clear, high resolution files of your documentation to confirm this. You can upload multiple files (jpg, png, pdf), up to 5 MB each.

UK, China & South East Asia and South Asia Competitions: Accepted Documents

  • If you were born in the UK your birth certificate or passport are sufficient
  • If you were born outside the UK, please upload your passport plus any additional documents like your visa, permanent residence card or resident permit
  • If you need help understanding the required documentation, please contact us

Ireland Competition: Accepted Documents:

If you were born in ROI, Northern Ireland or the UK:

  • valid Republic of Ireland passport or passport card
  • a valid British Passport (along with proof of residency in N Ireland or the Republic of Ireland)
  • valid driving licence or official photographic ID (including Irish address) as proof of identity

If you were born outside ROI, Northern Ireland or the UK:

  • please upload your passport plus any additional documents like your visa, permanent residence card or resident permit
  • If you need help understanding the required documentation, please contact us

Video link: Our judges would like to get to know you so please make a short video of no more than 3 mins capturing your answers to the questions:

  • Why did you choose the Hospitality Profession and who or what inspired you?
  • What are the two biggest challenges you currently face in your role and what keeps you going?
  • What’s your favourite dish on your establishment’s menu and why?
  • Please share an interesting fact about yourself!

Once you’ve happy with everything you’ve written and you’ve provided your documents, video and photo, you’re ready to submit your entry.
