2019 competition

Promoting Hospitality as a career of choice, a profession and a vocation. Young Chef Young Waiter is a national competition open to all young professional waiters and chefs from any background.

This renowned competition turns 40 this year and has been revamped with a new, dynamic format, fully endorsed by UK Hospitality and the Restaurant Association.

We’re working with leading figures from the hospitality industry to find the best young chef and waiter across the UK in 2019. Previous judges have included Raymond Blanc OBE, Heston Blumenthal OBE, Angela Hartnett MBE, Simon Girling, Fred Sirieix and many more. We’re looking for originality, personality, passion and experience.

Outstanding industry judges will select the very best from the online entries, choosing the Finalists to participate at the exciting live Final in London.

If you make it through, you’re in for an engaging and energetic challenge! We’ll test your expertise, knowledge, creativity, problem solving and teamwork skills with plenty of fun along the way.

Two Day Event in London

  • Day 1: 40 Finalists: 20 Chefs & 20 Waiters
  • Day 2: Morning: Top 20: 10 Chefs & 10 Waiters
  • Day 2: Afternoon: Final 10: 6 Chefs & 6 Waiters
  • Day 2: Evening: Spectacular party where the 6 Winners will be announced:
  • First, Second and Third Chef & Waiter Winners

We will provide reasonable travel expenses to London from anywhere in the UK for the semi final and final events. Accommodation and meals will be provided for all Finalists.
