HOW TO ENTER

We are thrilled to announce that our global competition is back for a third year, bringing World Young Chef Young Waiter and Young Mixologist 2024 to a much wider audience, making it more exciting than ever for our competitors.

Entry is free for Young Chefs, Young Waiters, and Young Mixologists who are 28 years old or under.

Check individual country pages for individual closing dates and competition dates. (More dates to be announced soon)

The World Finalists selected by our expert judges in each country will compete at the World Finals in Singapore on Friday 22nd – Sunday 24th November 2024.

Winners will be announced at a grand awards ceremony after the World Final Competition.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR ENTRANTS:
It is essential that at the point of entering WordYY online, you ensure that you will be available to take part in the world final competition in November 2024: including outbound and inbound travel from your chosen destination the day before the competition and flying home the day after.
Our online entry is a simple 2-step process.
Before you start, we recommend you read the instructions below. It may look like lots of information, but we guarantee it will be extremely helpful with your entry.

First you register:
Name, email, create a password and accept our Terms & Conditions (which can be viewed here)

You’ll receive an email which contains an account confirmation link. You can use this to link to edit and update your profile – this is handy if you don’t wish to complete your entry in one go.

Please note:
If you entered World Young Chef Young Waiter Young Mixologist 2023 (Entrants and Finalists from last year), you do not need to register again – you can just log in with the email and password you used last time.

Next you ‘Start new entry’ to fill in your submission:

You can continue completing this immediately after you’ve registered; you don’t need to wait for the email confirmation.

All the fields except your social media and last question are required fields.

They need to be filled in before the Judges can review your entry (but you don’t need to complete everything at once).

We need to see that you have the Right to Work in your chosen country. Please upload clear, high-resolution files of your documentation to confirm this. You can upload multiple files (jpg, jpeg, png, pdf), up to 5 MB each.

Accepted Documents:

  • If you were born in your chosen country, your birth certificate or passport are sufficient
  • If you were born outside your chosen country, please upload your passport plus any additional documents like your visa, permanent residence card or resident permit for where you are currently living.
  • If you need help understanding the required documentation, please contact us

Our judges would like to get to know you so please make a short video of no more than 3 mins capturing your answers to the questions:

  1. Tell us about yourself?
  2. Chefs, Waiters, and Mixologists, why did you choose the hospitality profession, and who or what inspired you to stay in it?
  3. Why would you like to enter the Young Chef Young Waiter or Young Mixologist competition?
  • Uploading a video of yourself is optional but recommended, as it will contribute to the marking of your application.
  • Your video must be uploaded onto your application in either mp4 or mov format.
  • You must answer the questions given in your video (please feel free to add anything additional)

Recent Photo: Please upload a recent personal or professional image of yourself.

Tell us more about yourself in your written answers to these questions in approximately 200 words or less.

Young Chef Questions:

  1. Chefs, what is the most memorable dish that you have ever eaten and why?
  2. Chefs, please write a 3-course menu and give a brief description of your inspiration for the menu and why your guests will love it.
  3. Can you give an example of a time you played an important role in helping the team overcome a challenge?
  4. Please describe your long-term goals and aspirations in hospitality?
  5. Is there anything else you would like us to know?

Young Waiter Questions:

  1. Waiters, what is the most memorable piece of service that you have ever experienced and why?
  2. Waiters, tell us about two champagnes and two wines that inspire you, and why?
  3. Can you give an example of a time you played an important role in helping the team overcome a challenge?
  4. Please describe your long-term goals and aspirations in hospitality?
  5. Is there anything else you would like us to know?

Young Mixologist Questions:

  1. Mixologists, what is the most memorable drink that you have ever tasted and why?
  2. Mixologists, what’s the inspiration for your creativity when it comes to creating and making drinks?
  3. Can you give an example of a time you played an important role in helping the team overcome a challenge?
  4. Please describe your long-term goals and aspirations in hospitality?
  5. Is there anything else you would like us to know?

Once you’re happy with everything you’ve written and you’ve provided your documents, video, and photo, you’re ready to submit your entry.
