Young Chef Young Waiter 2019 at the end of October was a fantastic success!

Entry is currently closed and the 2020 YCYW campaign will kick-off again in Spring 2020.

Entry will be free for young chefs and young waiters who are 26 or under.
You will be able to take part if you’re currently employed in the role of Chef or Waiter and have been employed for 3 years or more in the hospitality profession.

If you’d like to be part of next year’s competition, take a look below to see the type of info we asked entrants to provide in our 2019 entry form.

First you register: name, email and accept our Terms & Conditions (which can be viewed here).
Next you fill in your entry submission. You don’t need to complete everything at once

File upload: We need to see that you have the Right to Work in the UK*.
Please upload clear, high resolution photo/s of your documentation to confirm this.

  • If you were born in the UK, your birth certificate or passport are sufficient
  • If you were born outside the UK, please upload your passport plus any additional documents like your visa, permanent residence card or resident permit

Video link: Our judges would like to get to know you so please make a short video of no more than 3 mins capturing your responses to these queries:

  • Why did you choose the Hospitality Profession and who or what inspired you?
  • What are the two biggest challenges you currently face in your role and what keeps you going?
  • What’s your favourite dish on your establishment’s menu and why?
  • Please share an interesting fact about yourself!

Q&A: Tell us more about yourself in your written answers to these questions in approximately 200 words or less.

  • What is good hospitality in your opinion and how do you implement it?
  • What is the best lesson you’ve learnt so far and why is it the most valuable?
  • What was your first memorable dining experience and what made it special?

*Please note: your entry becomes valid when your Right to Work in the UK has been confirmed by the Nth Degree, the organisers of YCYW. We will only notify you regarding your working status if there are any issues. If there aren’t any issues, your entry will be approved without further confirmation notification.
