Here is a selection of common questions we’re asked by people interested in entering World Young Chef Young Waiter or those who want to find out more. How do I enter?

It is easy to enter. Your submission will include:

  • your contact details
  • a short video (3mins or less) that you make on your mobile or tablet to tell us about yourself
  • answers to some simple questions

You will also need to provide proof of identity including photo identification which shows your age and your right to work (for example: passport, identity card, visa etc)

How much does it cost to enter?

Entry is free for young chefs and young waiters who are 26 years old or under before the date of the final.

You must have a minimum of 3 years’ professional experience in a hospitality establishment in the role of Chef or Waiter for a minimum of 3 years in the hospitality profession.
This can include time where you have been temporarily unable to work or been furloughed or receiving Pandemic Unemployment Payment from your present role due to Covid-19.
[3 years refers to total minimum time required in the profession, not time at a single establishment]

When is the closing date for entry?

The closing date for 2021 entries will be different for each country so check the country page for further details.

Will there be interaction with the judges over the period of the competition?

Yes, definitely. The competition is designed to provide participants the chance to interact with the judges and their peers during the final events.

What profile will the winners get?
