Young Chef Young Waiter Macao 2022 Launches in Macao 

The World’s Best Chef and Waiter Competition 2022

Organised by Macau Culinary Association and supported by the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO), Macao Institute For Tourism Studies  (IFTM) and Wynn, the new Young Chef Young Waiter Macau, which promotes hospitality as a career of choice, a profession and a vocation, will be launched in Macao on 1st June 2022.

Young Chef Young Waiter – Macao is a national competition open to all young professional waiters and chefs under the age of 26, Macau ID and at least 3 years of related experience working in Macao restaurant sector. Entries will open online at youngchefyoungwaiter.com. The competition is the first of its kind in Macao, the Young Chefs Young Waiters will compete to win in the semi-finals on the 22nd August 2022 at the Macao Institute for Tourism Studies then the Grand Finals at Wynn Palace on 17th September 2022. The winners will be crowned that same evening with a glittering evening at the Grand Theater of Wynn Palace.

Having worked in the media to promote Chinese/Asia cuisine in the U.K. since 2003, I know what it is like to be young and be trying to break into an industry one is passionate about. However, I certainly did not get to the position I am in without the support of many. World YY is an amazing competition that will bring together the best culinary art talents from around the world, to celebrate them, to nurture them, to support them and to guide them. In these tough times when we face challenges as an industry, the unreserved support of different entities has made it possible for the event to happen; to encourage, to nurture and allow industry professionals to showcase their top-notch culinary skills once again. It will support the tourism industry to prepare for a brighter post-pandemic future in the long run.”   

The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO), the Macao Institute For Tourism Studies (IFTM) and Wynn, Chef Works, Watson’s Wines and Classic Fine Food who are all ready and involved to help support the next generation of leading talent. So if you are under 26, Macau ID holder and have had 3 years experience in the hospitality industry, we welcome you on board and submit your entries to compete for an amazing prize and be crowned winner of YCYW Macau. Each of the winner will get a paid trip to Monaco to complete for Macao against the rest of the world. 

The aim of Young Chef Young Waiter – Macao is simple: to uncover the very best young talent in our industry and help equip them with relevant skills, current knowledge and the network needed to succeed in the world of hospitality. Devised by respected professionals, the competition has a fresh modern approach that focusses on tasks and criteria that are challenging, educational and fun 

Entries open online on 1 June and close on 30 June 2022. Chefs and Waiters are welcome to apply for both Young Chef Young Waiter – Macau.

The Macau Culinary Association is a non-profit professional association which provides continuing education and development for its members who are engaged in the areas of culinary education, or in the preparation of food and drink in Macau. 

The Macau Culinary Association was jointly founded by Raimund Pichlmaier and David Wong in 2007, to further develop the culinary standards within Macau, to give its members a sense of community, further enhance the exchange of ideas and experiences between like-minded culinary professionals in Macau and promote Macau as a gastronomy destination.
